After Robin failed to kill Batman, Reverend Darrk tasked the former with robbing a wealthy home, but did not explain why he had to. The next day, Darrk tasked Robin with robbing a bank, but he backed out when he encountered Beth, an employee who was once a social worker at his orphanage. Since Wayne Williams was also present during the attempted robbery, he followed Robin (as Batman) to the Church of Eternal Empowerment and learned how the orphan met Reverend Darrk and joined him. Robin joined Batman and attacked the Church members, although many of them, including Darrk, escaped. After leaving the Church, Batman offered Robin a partnership, which the latter rejected.
